Introduction to changing a child's name
Although changing a child's name by deed poll is a simple process there are a number of requirements which must be met in order for the name change to be valid. We recommend that you read this guide in its entirety before continuing to the application stage to ensure that you fully comply with the legal requirements.
Please note: a child is considered to be someone under the age of 16 for name change purposes. If you have a child that is 16 or over they must apply for their own adult deed poll.
